Utilizing Cell Phone Accessories with the T-Mobile myTouch ...

A vision of a simplified electronic device integrating the world has become very common. It is now so common to see smart and simple mobile phones of very small sizes being made to accommodate almost all the functions you will desire with your computer set. Hence it is rightfully being said that the survival and death are just a click away. Now the saying is that you can now rebuild the world with just a click on phone button.

Being known for the elegant phones, LG has transferred this character to its other mobile sets as well, especially to the T-mobile LG smart phone. The highly sophisticated and intelligent applications, this hybrid smart phone gives you an easy access to internet and other applications too. While making your choice, you must definitely consider a few other things with it, especially the accessories for your phone?s protection and maintenance.

There has always been confusion as to which brand and model to prefer while purchasing the accessories. When it comes to a case, some prefer to go for the plastic case while others will choose the leather case. Choosing a plastic case over a leather case for the MyTouch Q accessories as it is has one big advantage. Various kinds of magnetic clips and buckles are used by the leather cases for them to fit well on the phone and also to prevent it from coming off. This has a very negative effect on the phone and its applications. Many of your precious items can be lost due to this.

Due to the absence of clips and buckles from plastic cases, it makethem more safe to use with the phone. The plastic cases are built in a way to make an overall coverage of your smart phone. The grip of the plastic cases is always better than seen in case of leather cases. The heat resistant property of plastic cases make them still much better than the leather cases. Thus, it is recommended for people, especially who live in hot weather or sunshine prone areas, to purchase the plastic case.

It is not just the body which is protected by the plastic cases. If you seek an overall protection for all parts of your phone, then you will definitely go for the plastic casing. As your phone features a touch screen, you should take enough care so as to protect the screen in all circumstances. If the screen of your phone gets damaged, you can as well forget about the phone. Its functions become automatically disabled when this happens. Scratches and fingerprints pose constant danger to the phone?s touch screen, hence it needs to be protected with a plastic case.

Choosing a Plastic case over a Leather case for accessories is the best because of a screen protector. The screen protector is a clear sheet covering the screen properly to absorb any damage that can spoil the screen. Hence we see that buying a plastic case instead of a leather case is always the best choice.

Egypt police, protesters clash after soccer riot (AP)

CAIRO ? Egyptian police fired tear gas Thursday at thousands of demonstrators outside the Interior Ministry protesting the security forces' failure to prevent a soccer riot that killed more than 70 people.

Anger has been building as the public and lawmakers blamed the country's military rulers for the bloodshed, the latest to signal rapidly deteriorating security in the country since Hosni Mubarak's fall nearly a year ago.

The protests started as a peaceful march by Egyptians angry over the police inaction from the headquarters of Al-Ahly, one of Egypt's most popular soccer clubs, to the area outside the ministry building near Tahrir Square, the epicenter of last year's popular uprising that ousted Mubarak.

Security forces guarding the area were separated from the more than 10,000 protesters by concrete blocs and barbed wire, but tensions rose as protesters advanced toward them, cursing and removing some of the barriers. They also raised their shoes in the air and hurled stones. Police responded with heavy tear gas, sending demonstrators running, with some passing out and falling to the ground.

Some tried to move big concrete blocs erected around the ministry since November, when clashes between the police and protesters then left more than 40 people dead.

In scenes reminiscent of those clashes, protesters set tires on fire, sending black smoke in the air. Motorcycle drivers ferried some of those wounded from the site as ambulances were unable to get through. Egyptian state TV said 100 people had passed out from the tear gas.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement the protesters had cut the barbed wire, and crossed over the concrete blocs to reach the roads leading to the headquarters. It urged the protesters "to listen to the sound of wisdom ... at these critical moments" to prevent the spread of chaos.

Wednesday's riot at the stadium in Port Said erupted when Al-Masry fans stormed the field following a rare 3-1 win against Al-Ahly, one of Egypt's most popular clubs, but the violence went beyond the deep sports rivalry between the teams.

A network of rabid soccer fans known as Ultras vowed vengeance, accusing the police of intentionally letting rivals attack them because they have been at the forefront of protests over the past year, first against Mubarak and now the military.

Many members of die-hard soccer fans who were among the protesters vowed to storm the ministry.

"Either they (police) will die or we will die," said Islam, a member of the Ultras, said. "We are willing to die for the blood of martyrs."

He declined to give his last name because of the volatility of the situation.

Cuba says imports from US off sharply in 2010 (AP)

HAVANA ? Cuban imports from the United States fell sharply in 2010 while the country increasingly turned to trade with ally Venezuela, according to newly released government statistics.

The government also announced that agricultural food prices rose 20 percent last year in part due to shorter supply, even as authorities try to stimulate productivity with agrarian and economic reforms.

Cuba's National Statistics Office said the island imported $410 million worth of goods from the U.S. in 2010, mostly food products. That was down from $645 million the previous year and about $1 billion in 2008.

The nearly 50-year-old U.S. trade embargo outlaws most U.S. commerce with Cuba, but it allows some things like agricultural goods and medicine to be sold to the island.

Cuba has said in the past that it would be buying less from the United States, saying the embargo's requirement that the transactions be done in cash was too restrictive. Increasingly it has turned to sources like China, Vietnam and Brazil in search of better terms.

The 2010 numbers on external trade released this week had not been previously announced, and 2011 figures are not available.

The document said trade with Venezuela, which has become Cuba's main commercial partner under President Hugo Chavez, topped $6 billion in 2010, nearly double the $3.4 billion registered the year before.

Venezuela provides about 100,000 barrels of oil a day to Cuba on beneficial terms and receives doctors and technical advisers from Cuba.

China was Cuba's second-largest partner in 2010 with $1.9 billion in trade, according to the report, followed by Canada, Spain, Brazil and the Netherlands.

The United States ranked seventh.

Cuba said exports increased from $3.1 billion in 2009 to $4.6 billion in 2010.

So did imports, from $9.6 billion to $10.6 billion. Fuel and food topped the list of goods Cuba purchased.

The National Statistics Office also said in a different report that prices for goods in agricultural markets rose 19.8 percent last year, led by crops like citrus, coconut, mango and melon.

The Cuban government has acknowledged that productivity is a problem on the island, forcing it to resort to food imports it can ill-afford ? a total of $1.5 billion in 2010, according to the Statistics Office.

As part of a package of economic reforms, President Raul Castro has made agricultural changes including handing over fallow state-run land to independent growers and co-ops, and extending credits for farm equipment and improvements and

He frequently stressed the need for homegrown products to substitute for imports.

Credit Suisse traders plead guilty (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) ? Several former Credit Suisse traders manipulated the books on mortgage-backed securities when the U.S. real estate market slumped in 2007 and 2008, two of the former traders at the investment bank said in court on Wednesday.

The men, David Higgs, 42, and Salmaan Siddiqui, 36, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in New York to a criminal charge of conspiracy to falsify books and records and commit wire fraud.

Separately, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed civil charges against Higgs, Salmaan Siddiqui and two other traders. The other two were identified in the SEC complaint as Kareem Seregeldin, a one-time boss of Higgs at Credit Suisse, and Faisal Siddiqui.

Lawyers for Seregeldin and Faisal Siddiqui, who is not related to Salmaan Siddiqui, were not immediately available to comment.

Higgs and Salmaan Siddiqui are cooperating in a U.S. government investigation on the writedowns of subprime mortgage derivatives at the height of the financial crisis.

There have been few prosecutions of individuals at high-profile banks for conduct that contributed to the financial crisis, but the Obama administration says it is stepping up investigations over the collapse of the subprime housing market.

In the case of the two former Credit Suisse traders federal prosecutors brought a single conspiracy charge carrying a maximum prison term of up to 5 years, but not a charge of securities fraud, which carries a prison term of up to 20 years.

Higgs told a federal judge that while he was a managing director in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse in London in 2007 and 2008, he and others manipulated and inflated the cash bond position markings of a trading book, called ABN1, in order to hide losses.

"As a result of my actions, senior management of Credit Suisse was given the false impression that the ABN1 book was profitable and caused Credit Suisse to report false year-end numbers for 2007 in their books and records," Higgs said in court.

He said he altered the records because he wanted to remain in good favor with Seregeldin and "enhance" his job performance. He said he stood to receive a year-end bonus.

Seregeldin, who was dismissed by Credit Suisse in 2008, could not be located. A spokeswoman for the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office declined to comment on Seregeldin.

Higgs, who apologized for his conduct, said his boss and others had known about the manipulation and assisted in it. He looked dejected and spoke quietly in describing his conduct to U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan.

The investigation stems from $2.85 billion in writedowns that Credit Suisse took on collateralized debt obligations in 2008. Credit Suisse revealed those CDO losses in early 2008 and blamed them on a group of rogue traders who deliberately mispriced securities and on a failure of internal controls.

Credit Suisse was not charged in the case. A spokesman for the firm declined to comment on Wednesday. The firm has cooperated with the government's investigations.

Salmaan Siddiqui of McLean, Virginia, told a different federal judge a similar story on Wednesday in the same courthouse.

"I exchanged emails and telephone calls with my bosses who directed me to mismark the ABN1 book," Siddiqui said in a proceeding before U.S. District Judge Paul Crotty. "I knew that what I was directed to do, and did, was wrong."

Higgs and Salmaan Siddiqui were released on $500,000 bond each. Higgs will be allowed to return to his home in Britain while the investigation continues. His lawyer, John Brownlee, declined to comment.

In court, Higgs said that traders were required to price securities that they held on a mark-to-market basis of the current market price of the asset or liability or similar assets or liabilities, according to accounting standards and the bank's policy.

Beginning in 2007 when the U.S. real estate market slumped and mortgage delinquencies increased, the value of securities backed by mortgages decreased and the market lost its liquidity.

Higgs told the judge that he and others manipulated the records "rather than mark these securities down to market as we were required to do."

Salmaan Siddiqui's lawyer, Ira Lee "Ike" Sorkin, said after the plea proceeding that his client has been cooperating for some time with prosecutors and the SEC.

Wealthy Greeks of Switzerland ?re Skeptical Over Investing in ...

Extensive talks are being held lately on the willingness of rich Greeks living abroad to help their debt-ridden homeland with investments that would boost the economy and create new jobs.

Although several initiatives have already been organized by Diaspora Greeks, extremely wealthy Greeks currently living in Switzerland seem rather skeptical over investing their money in an already crippled country, where bureaucracy and strikes are hard to deal with.

According to Swissinfo.ch, there are not many Greeks living abroad ?rushing to invest in their homeland? although they personally feel proud to be Greeks.

Greek lawyer Ilias Bissias, an expert in cross-border legal cases between Switzerland and Greece, told swissinfo.ch that Greece is ?hostile? to new investment projects at the time and that Greek owners of Swiss bank accounts are not willing to move their money to Greece.

The new taxation agreement between the two countries has been unsettling for the Greeks owning bank accounts in Switzerland, and many of them are thinking of transferring their money to the United Arab Emirates or Singapore.
