Weekend Wine - South Florida Food and Wine

Mastrojanni Rosso Di Montalcino is the pricest of this grouping, at $85 a bottle. A well made wine of smooth elegance and grace. This 100% Sangiovese is bright and transparent bursting with a?fresh bouquet of red fruits. A sophisticated sipping wine recommended with a cheese and charcuterie plate.

Concannon Crimson & Clover?is a moderate priced bottle of wine coming in around $15 retail. Just like the name says, this wine bursts with notes on the palate and nose of?currants and clove, with a hint of sweet coming from the?vanilla which leads right into the bright blackberry fruit. This blend is made up of 50% Petite Sirah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon,?15% Syrah, 10% Zinfandel. A nice easy sipping quaff.

Apothic Red is your classic California fruit bomb value wine priced at $10 or less. Apothic Red shows its fruit immediately once that cork is popped. Big bright batches of rhubarb, and cherries assault the nose and blend mercifully?on the palate with hints of vanilla, mocha, sugar, spice and everything nice. Apothic Red is a blend of Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. An easy wine, recommended to those starting to shift from White to Red wine.

LaFollette Pinot Noir Sangiacomo 2009 is our middle weight contender this weekend at $40 a bottle. Classic California Pinot Noir. Well balanced with its dark berries and oak. Silky, velvety smooth due to its tamed tannins, an enjoyable quaff, no food pairing needed.
