Many of us make lists every day and set goals to accomplish certain tasks, but I believe the subconscious mind determines what we put into motion in our lives. We can set all the goals we want-even consciously choose to eat certain foods, but our personal beliefs about that food (or whatever you are setting a goal with) will sway us either into momentum of positive moving action or create barriers for us. So any forward motion we could achieve comes to a screeching halt. This is where many of us begin to yo-yo in what we eat, how we live our lives, in our career choices and the relationships we have. Regardless if our choices are nourishing us or not.
We all have heard, seen or read for a majority of our lives that we need to eat more vegetables, that processed foods are ?bad? and that treats should be consumed in moderation. So why then is a majority of the American population doing just the opposite? Why is it that so many of us are walking around with type 2 diabetes, a variety of digestive issues and downing medication like it?s prescribed candy?
We have heard in article after article, news report after news report how stress effects our health physically, mentally and emotionally. So why is it that everywhere we turn advertising scares us into taking action? Why is it that we work at such frantic paces that simply eating breakfast or lunch becomes a non-existent thing, unless we do it at our desks? When did we stop living and start reacting to life?
Could this stress be a key to a majority of our health complaints?
Our thoughts & beliefs create our actions.
Our actions determine what we eat, as well as create our reality.
Our reality today is a result of what we thought yesterday.
Many of the women I work with get very surprised when I talk with them on topics beyond WHAT and HOW to eat. But are even more surprised when their lives are transformed by the process of not only detailing their core beliefs, but mindfully observing how living life according to those beliefs changes their daily choices for the better. Not only because they are eating better, but because they suddenly realize that they are much happier then when they first came to me looking for help. I believe that food is more than simply what is found on our plates and is consumed in the form of physical activities, relationships, career and spirituality, I firmly believe that the only true way to create a sustainable health plan is to begin by believing in valuing ourselves first. By being true to our core essential values, we all make choices that are much more nourishing and remarkably less stressful. A majority of people believe they already know what their values are, and I?m sure many of them know some of them. But when I go through all 12 areas that we hold beliefs in with my clients we unveil thoughts in their subconscious mind that reveal many reasons why they are not progressing forward with their goals. They begin to realize that they have been thinking more about keeping up with the ?Joneses? then what would be meaningful to their lives.
By enlisting the help of your subconscious mind and making the conscious choice to start directing the path of our thoughts, or what I call ?driving your bus?, we create powerful synergy between the outcome we consciously want and? beliefs we have that create our actions to either make that outcome a reality or not.
My deepest desire is to help women create a better relationship with their food. A relationship that is free of restrictions, denial and guilt. After all, how many women would consciously choose to form a friendship with someone that put a strict criteria on what their? relationship would or wouldn?t be like? We form a friendship with people because we have something in common, our beliefs our core values? and because many times it just looks or feels right. We have a ?knowing? that this is a person I can hang out with. These relationships can last a season or a lifetime, but either way we allow them in and grow from them. So why is it that we allow ourselves to be confined to so many rules when we choose our food? When we exercise? When we choose a career?
What if we think of our foods (on our plate and off) as friends, checking in with our instincts instead of our head? How would our choices change if we simply allowed foods into our lives that felt ?right? to us at our core because they nourished us on a deeper level than simple nutrition requirements. What if we gave our selves permission to eat that food and truly savor each bite? Allowing ourselves to be excited to see it. taste it gain pleasure from it, slowly eating it one mouthwatering bite at a time?
From my years of helping women transform their lives, as well as personally recreating my own relationship with food, I can say these are powerful steps.
But don?t take my word for it?.
