SMITHVILLE EASTER PARADE IS BECOMING LOCAL TRADITION FOR FAMILIES

SMITHVILLE -- Residents of Smithville came out over the weekend to take part in something that's become a local tradition.

The Easter Bunny along with many South Jersey residents came out to Smithville village Sunday afternoon to celebrate their Easter holiday in an annual parade that has become very popular over the years.

"This is our 10th year for the parade and we mostly have local people come out," said Tony Coppoln, organizer.

The parade provided entertainment for all ages, and allowed people to take part in a friendly competition for one of five different "best dressed" categories.

"It's nice to see everybody out and dressed up, it's pretty rare to see people dressed up today but Easter is a special day," said Coppoln

For those who weren't interested in competing, the weather provided a perfect day families just to come out and enjoy tradition, as nearly 5,000 people attended the event.

"We love it, it's a beautiful day," said Coppoln. "It's a great place to walk around it has become a tradition for a lot of families."

It's an annual tradition for some families that's been going on for nearly a decade now.

"We remember some of these people starting 10 years ago with infants and they're back here every year to take part in the parade," said Coppoln.

According to officials, the parade is something they're proud to host every year.

"It's a culmination of a lot of hard work over the year and it kind of sets up our spring season, so it's an early start," Coppoln said.
