The Xbox Elite is the second video game console from Microsoft which was developed in co-operation with IBM, ATI, and SiS. This model gaming console allows players to compete online and download content such as arcade games, game demos, trailers, TV shows and movies. Mainly considered as a successor to the Xbox, it competes with Sony's Play Station 3 and Nintendo's Wii as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles.Officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, this model divulged game information later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). It is the first console to provide a near-simultaneous launch across the three major regions. The console created a record by marking a sale of 17.7 million units worldwide by January 3, 2008. The Xbox 360 is currently available in four different versions, the "Arcade" console, the "Core" console, the "Premium" console, and the "Elite" console, each having its own set of included accessories and features.

The Xbox Elite was released in the U.S. and Canada on November, 22, 2005, in Europe on December 2, 2002 and in Japan in December 10, 2005. The Xbox gaming console later got launched in Mexico, Colombia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Russia. The Xbox Elite game console is available in three standard variants including the "Xbox 360 Arcade", the "Xbox 360", and the "Xbox 360 Elite". A discontinued SKU, the "Xbox 360 Core", was replaced by the "Xbox 360 Arcade" in October 2007.

The Xbox Elite is the fourth and most expensive variation of the console with a price of US$449.99 and includes a 120GB hard drive along with a matte black finish. The Elite retail package includes an HDMI 1.2 cable and a controller and headset that match the system's black finish.
