Starting a public relations firm is a dream of many public relations professionals. Lindsey A. Walker decided to follow this dream after working with brands in entertainment and fashion to editorial and nonprofit. Lindsey?is the founder and CEO of PR Mentality, LLC, a boutique public relations firm that is the perfect blend of effective brand enhancement, media implementation and strategic campaign development.? A native of St. Louis, MO, Lindsey loves being a publicist as well as building and enhancing brands on behalf of her clients.

?At PR Mentality, we take pride in developing amazing working relationships with our clients?, she states. Although Lindsey enjoys her career, her true passion is empowering women.

?My mission is to inspire young women that they can achieve and be successful in entrepreneurship. There are so many women who have dreams, but because of negativity or self-doubt, they don?t take the next step. I want to inspire them and rejuvenate their hopes,? states Lindsey.

Determined and dedicated to excellence, Lindsey?s success is limitless.?She received her Bachelor?s degree from Jackson State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Why did you start PR Mentality??Owning a boutique public relations firm has always been a? dream of mine. I absolutely love being a publicist! I started out as a freelance publicist promoting my services on Twitter and LinkedIn. Potential clients began contacting me and everything fell into place. My Twitter name has been LyNNPRMentality for 3 years. When I decided to launch my firm, PR Mentality, LLC was the perfect name.

What are some problems and risks of running your own public relations firm??I wouldn?t say that there are problems and risk of running my firm. I will say, however, that the biggest challenges are prioritizing, remaining organized and having great time management skills. As every publicist would say, you must be able to multitask! Lastly, build your branding as well as your firm?s brand is essential!

What motivates you??I LOVE what I do! When you have a true passion for something, no matter how hard it may be sometimes, you are motivated to continue on the journey. Also, seeing my clients in the media and assisting them with reaching their career goals definitely motivates me to continue to work hard and strive for excellence.

How are new technologies affecting public relations??New technologies are definitely having a huge impact on the public relations industry. Social media and the Internet make it easy to access certain information and communicate with others. Communication and networking are a vital part of public relations.

What do you see in the future of PR??The future for PR is extremely bright! There are so many great opportunities and ways for people to succeed in this industry.? Those of us who own successful boutique firms are able to create jobs for many people and give them a new outlook on life. I truly believe PR is taking over the world, slowly, but surely.

What advice can you give professionals thinking about making the big jump to starting their own firm/agency???Just do it! Don?t think about it, don?t hesitate. Yes, there will be many long nights and days with little to no sleep, but this is your dream. It will pay off if you have the faith, the drive and the persistence. Believe in yourself, your abilities and your dream. You can?t fail.

What can we expect from PR Mentality for the remainder of 2012? PR Mentality, LLC has great things in store for our clients. We work with some amazing brands and our roster is continuing to grow. We are expanding our services to the entertainment and fashion industry.?
