Dig Weekend Guide ? June 22-24 | Dig Lounge

Welcome to the Weekend. It?s officially Summer and it?s an action packed drinking, shopping, music, and movie weekend. Celebrate by sipping a exceptional Caymus flight in Culver City and Italian wines at The Grove. Barnsdall Wine Tasting continues in Los Feliz as does the outdoor music fun at Malibu Family Wines. The fun at The Grove continues on Saturday with it?s annual Summer Food Festival, or enjoy outdoor movies all over the city, plus pick up some new threads at the mobile shopping event, The Shop Lot. For more mobile food fun, on Sunday check out LA?s first Vendys, a Qupe? winery tasting in Alhambra, or a Firestone Walker tasting in K-Town. And if you like big rocks, the Levitated Mass exhibit finally opens at LACMA.

Caymus Special Selection Tasting @ Redd Collection

Stop in the tasting counter at Culver City?s best kept wine secret, the Redd Collection, for a sampling of amazing Caymus Special Selection. Vini d?Italia
Los Angeles (7-9:30pm)
Sample 60 wines from 20 Italian wineries at Maggianos?s Little Italy at The Grove. Vini d?Italia will feature wines from some of the best Italian winemakers from Allegrini wines of Valpolicella to the Prosecco?s of Zardetto. Tickets start at $45, but go up to $65 as the event gets closer. Your ticket includes a large buffet of Maggianos?s finest carb loaded Italian fare. What better to pair the wines with? Barnsdall Wine Tasting Fridays

Unwind and enjoy the beautiful Barnsdall Art Park as the sun is setting, from the gated gardens in the West Lawn of the historic Hollyhock House. Silverlake Wine will present four selections of boutique, small production, artisanal wines from around the globe. This week will feature DJ Dan Wilcox of KCRW and delicious food from Heirloom LA, Let?s Be Frank, Gastrobus and Coolhaus. Tickets are $25, or $5 for kids and designated drivers. More info here.

Malibu Family Wines
Malibu (Fri-Sun)
Live music is back at the Malibu Family Wines tasting room. Grab a picnic basket and a bottle of wine from their tasting counter and enjoy live music in the beautiful hills of Malibu. The music starts on Friday night from 7-9pm and continues through the weekend. Shows are free and are 21 and over only. The Shop Lot

Hit up the cities only mobile shopping event at the Shop Lot. Saturday?s event is a fundraiser taking place at St Vincent De Paul (210 North Ave 21, Los Angeles). Pick up everything from too cool for school supplies, clothing, shoes, and accessories. Food trucks will be slinging some tasty bites, so bring some cash.

Summer Food Festival at The Grove
Los Angeles
The 3rd annual Summer Food Festival hosted by Chef Susan Feniger will take place at The Grove from 10am-6pm. Purchase tickets and enjoy samplings from restaurants at The Grove and Susan Feniger?s STREET all day long! Enjoy cooking demonstrations and a speaking panel of LA chefs. Events include a Chef Neal Fraser cooking demonstration, a speaking panel hosted by Susan Feniger, and lots more. More info here.

It?s time for Street Food Cinema, the swankiest summer fest featuring cool outdoor movies, tasty food trucks and live music in Los Angeles! Bring a blanket, the family, the dog, and a picnic. Eat|See|Hear Presents: The Goonies

Eat|See|Hear moves it?s outdoor cinema returns to Santa Monica this weekend. Complete with live music and food trucks. Doors open at 5:30, with live music by George Glass at 7pm, then the movie starts at 8:30 sharp. Tickets are $10 and are available online.

Levitated Mass
Los Angeles (11am)
The news painstakingly covered it for days upon days. Now it?s time to see what this 340-ton boulder is all about at the opening day of LACMA?s Levitated Mass installation. Heizer conceived of the artwork in 1968, but discovered an appropriate boulder only decades later, in Riverside County, California. Residents in zip codes along the route, which is just about everyone from Riverside to Los Angeles, gets free admission to the museum through July 1.

Qupe? Winery Tasting and Appetizers
Alhambra (4-7pm)
Vinos at Trios is hosting the wines of Qupe? Winery, specializing in Rhone-style wines from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria, the Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard in the Edna Valley farmed biodynamically, and the Ibarra-Young Vineyard in Los Olivos where they farm organically. All wines are paired with apps like Squash Blossom pizza, Sake Oysters, and Dried Fig and Pear Salad. This event is $25, plus tip.

The Vendys
Los Angeles (1-5pm)
The Vendys are a yearly street food cook-off that, since 2005, has determined the best street chef in NYC. The Second Annual LA street food showcase will be an intense cook-off between the best sidewalk chefs taking place at Pan Pacific Park, right next to the Grove. Until May 24th, they?ll be taking public nominations. Then 8 food vendors will battle it out for the ultimate in street food competition and take home the Vendy Cup. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges, but the general public is invited to enjoy great street food, wine and beer. Early bird tickets available for $30 here.

Firestone Walker Tasting
Los Angeles (12-10pm)
Head to Beer Belly in K-Town for a special edition of their ?One Night Stand? tastings. On Sunday they welcome Firestone Walker and will be pouring, Parabola, Walkers Reserve, Double Jack, Wookie Jack, Hemp Ale, DBA, Pale 31, Union Jack and Solace. They will also have a limited number of Firestone Walker pint glasses, t-shirts, and hats to give away with purchase of a beer.

The L.A. Derby Dolls are Southern California?s premiere all-female, banked track roller derby league. Watch girls on wheels as they battle out on the track with two teams of five players each: four blockers (one of whom wears a striped helmet cover as the ?pivot?) and one jammer.
