Rugby Union: Lancaster staying upbeat

England's Stuart Lancaster has tried to take the positives out of his side's draw with South Africa despite coming so close to a win.

The relatively new look England side managed to secure a 14-14 draw with the Springboks in Port Elizabeth on Saturday to avoid a series whitewash on their summer tour in the southern hemisphere.
However, Lancaster's men could have stolen the victory late on but fly-half Owen Farrell put his drop goal attempt wide of the posts.
The England boss was pleased with the maturity shown by the team's youngsters and believes the side are moving in the right direction.
He said: "It could have been won with the clock done - they're the small margins. But when Owen [Farrell] came on, we had an Under-21 [number] 10, 12, 13.
"We've got young lads making their debut - Alex Goode was outstanding at full-back. Overall, when you look at where we were and where we are now, I think we're in a good place.
"South Africa had over 500 caps in their side. We're a side just developing that experience."
